Victory Brewing Co. :: Taste Victory

(Downingtown, PA) — The Victory Brewing Couples Beerathlon, one of many highlights at Victory Love Fest, held February 9, 2007, resulted in the crowning of a champion that traveled more 400 miles to compete. On Friday evening 12 teams tested their skill, determination, and Victory Brewing knowledge with Terri Matthews and Dustin Watts coming out the 2007 Victory Beerathlon Champions.

The final results of the Couples Beerathlon saw the duo of Terri Matthews and Dustin Watts of North Carolina take top honors and the coveted Golden Pitcher trophy. Tying the winning pair, but losing by virtue of a lower place in the final event, Malt Sack Madness, Josh and Jaime Krayger took home second place honors. Third place also resulted in a tie with the teams of Melissa Cauler and Chuck Henry, Bridget Farrell and Steve Mead, and Anthony Fasano and Rosemary Longchamps each earning 3 points to tie for third.

Events competed in by the Couples Beerathletes included Victory Beer Brains, The Running of the Mugs, and Malt-Sack Madness. Victory Beer Brains was a game show style beer trivia competition while The Running of the Mugs tested service, spillage, and time. Malt-Sack Madness had competitors, their legs confined to sacks that once contained barley malt, racing against one another for speed. The combined points from each event placing determined the overall Couples Victory Champion.

The winners of the Couples Beerathlon took home not only the coveted golden pitcher, but also 6 cases of Victory beer and plenty of Victory apparel.
