VICTORY BREWING ANNOUNCES NO-SMOKING POLICY AT ITS BREWERY RESTAURANT IN DOWNINGTOWN, PA

NO SMOKING POLICY TO ENHANCE VICTORY EXPERIENCE

(Downingtown, PA) — Victory Brewing Company will begin a new non-smoking policy at its brewery restaurant location in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, beginning today, November 16, 2006. November 16, was chosen as the day to implement the policy because it marks the 30th anniversary of The Great American Smokeout by the American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org/).  An outdoor shelter has been designed and built in close proximity to the restaurant entrance to accommodate Victory Brewing’s smoking guests.

Victory Brewing founder and president, Bill Covaleski, made these remarks on the decision to go smoke free. “In the founding and operation of Victory Brewing Company, it has been our goal to create the most consistent and flavorful beers for our audience's enjoyment.

Starting with creative recipes, many controls need to be implemented and observed to insure a great glass of beer. We gladly tackle these tasks in order to create quality brews. Previously, there remained one environmental threat that compromised the full appreciation of our beer's flavors, here at our restaurant. That compromising threat was second hand tobacco smoke. As of today, November 16, 2006, smoking will no longer be permitted within our establishment.”

The new non-smoking policy follows a national trend by states, cities and municipalities to legislate a smoke free environment within restaurants. Downingtown, PA, has yet to implement such a policy. Rather Covaleski and fellow Victory founder Ron Barchet believed the issue important enough to the enjoyment of their beers to begin the policy prior to any potential legislation.

Covaleski continued, “We strongly believe in personal rights. In this instance, we believe in the right to enjoy our beer without the compromising effect of second hand smoke.”
